If the guy is qualified and living in Canada, I don't care what his accent is if he is good at his duties.

pwharcourt said:
As a born and bred Canadian I have read with interest this missile especially when I know the individual as He worked for Alberta Minor Rugby when I was its VP. Dustin came to Canada as a player and was injured so badly [by a Canadian since suspended for life] that he had to retire from playing. He has been a tremendous asset to Junior Rugby in Alberta and will also do a great job of growing coaches.
I take issue to the comments re a masters in coach ed or a level 5 as some of our most successful coaches have a ton less education than that. Canadian Rugby has needed the "accents" from the start. I think that almost all the Canadian Presidents except Dave B and Barry G have been "accents" and they have grown clubs across Canada.
We should instead work together to grow our game and not listen to an accent.

Peter, I think the issue is that the lack clarity and accountability of the Rugby Canada in its decisions. To the average player in Canada, Rugby Canada looks like a big black box.

Best man for the job can't be another accent from Alberta. Does he have a master's in coach education? Is he a Level 5 coach? What National teams has he been associated with that would give evidence that he is educated enough to provide Canadian coaches with quality insight on the modern game. How soon before he sets up residence at SLS.

Get the best person available regardless of accent. I know there are good Canadians around and if they apply they should be hired but i would never disqualify someone based on their nationality.

Rugby Canada has hired a new Coach Development Manger and it is no surprise that it is another Welshman. Are there no qualified Canadians or is it true that Canadians been beaten down by current board and administration and do not care enough to apply for these positions.
