80% in 2015

"There's been huge development," Riordan said. "This group is really tight and, as Kieran Crowley said after the All Blacks game, at least 80 per cent of this squad could play in another World Cup in terms of age. There's a big difference in the way we're playing rugby and the exposure the team is getting."
A few things I think I think ....
1) Is this 80% of the 20 guys who played in every game and if so will all those over 30 year olds be around in 2015?
2) Is this 80 % 0f the 7 guys who got less then limited playing experience at the 2011 WC?
3) Maybe this 80 % of the 5 guys who never saw a jersey unless they were helped Swany unpack the kit bag
4) or is this 80 % the 80 points that they leaked against a struggling AB's side
5)
the exposure the team is getting

Just a note, Riordan looks like a fit Seth Rogan.
They need to higher level games and with the restriction of the money from IRB and limited opportunities to play overseas, you will have the same.
We need to think outside of the box.

What does 80% in 2015 do for Rugby in Canada?
Great, 80% of the team returns for the WC in 2015, does this mean that all the resources are poured into these players over the next 4 years so Canada gets what? Maybe 1 or more victories at the WC in 2015?
This comment makes me happy for the WC squad and very sad for Rugby in Canada.

This topic left me perplexed for that all to brief moment. I googled the facts from Rugby World Cup 2007 and this is what I have concluded. How is RC considered professional when they operate as an amateur organization? Potential is just a nice word but that is about it when it comes to elite sports, just a nice cliché word. I look at the team from 2007 and it was loaded with professional players and potential. Potentially 80% of that team should or could have been playing in 2011. That would be if it was fostered and cultivated properly after the 2007 World Cup.
Huge Potential
Nick Trenkel 20
David Biddle 22
David Spicer 22
Mike Pyke 23
Justin Mensah Coker 24
Mike Pletch 24
Dan Pletch 24
Luke Tait 24Going up an age group – less potential
Craig Culpan 25
Matt Weingart 25
Sean Michael Stephen 25
Mike Burak 27
Josh Jackson 27
Mike Webb 28Combine these 14 players with the 11 that were there from the last World Cup and you have the magical 83%.
Fine Wine Potential - Added Potential
If you are going to judge potential, how about this, offering no playing experience or off field leadership potential
Brian Erichsen 35
Frank Walsh 35Why not take these two, offering a lifetime of playing experience and leadership.
Rod Snow 40
Mike James 37I guess when it is all said and done, no harm no foul, none of these four were ever going to play in New Zealand.
I’m potentially going to buy the winning lottery ticket.

Trenkel (Capilanos) - had a long list of injuries post-world cup, not sure if he is even playing anymore
Biddle (Meralomas) - moved to Quebec for grad school, played a couple of games at Concordia, unsure of current whereabouts
Spicer (Ravens) - is in Med School at UBC
Pyke (UVic? James Bay?) - is making six figures playing Aussie Rules Football down under
Mensah-Coker (Meralomas) - It came down to between him and Taylor Paris in selection. Last seen working the door at Joe's Apartment.
Pletch 1 (Oakville) - Is a teacher in Ontario, suffered a serious neck injury I believe.
Pletch 2 (Velox? James Bay?) - Was available for selection, one of sluggos undersized boys, not selected.
Tait (Unknown) - Was available for selection to the best of my knowledge and was not selected. Crowley must've seen something in Erichsen's glutes that he really liked, cuz he sure got to use them up in the press box in NZ. Probably similar fate would've awaited just about every one of these guys as well.
Culpan (Meralomas) - Came to too many training sessions in argyle sweaters and cut-off jean shorts. Not sure if he is even playing Lomas 3rds. Liked cigarettes and suntanning, but what a natural talent.
Weingart (CW) - Not selected. Is he a firefighter?
Smacky (Oakville) - Not selected. Was available.
Burak (Ravens) - Not Selected. Was available.
Jackson (Unknown) - Not Selected. Was available.
Webb (Rowers) - Was in NZ I believe doing grad school. Not available.
Other than maybe Smacky/Pyke/Spicer I'm not sure any of these guys (based on current form) would've even dressed for a game? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Played rugby in BC, but have been out East for school for the last few years... Watched a Concordia vs. McGill game last year and was damn surprised to see Biddle randomly playing for the Bumble-Bees, sporting a beard that would have given Kleeberger a run for his $$$.
