I'm a little tired at work today but it was well worth staying up to watch. Carps and Kleeberg set an example for any back row player to aspire to. Connor Trainor's burst through their defense to set up the try was phenominal. The only thing I wasn't impressed with in last nights game was the refereeing both from the guy with the whistle and his assistants. How all three of them missed the trip that led to a Tongan try is beyond me and how the near assistant missed the spear tackle was also unexcusable. But if our pack can play that strong against France on Sunday you might just see another upset. Go Canada!!!

Outstanding game. Dth was class. The only thing better on the pitch than kleeberger was his beard.
Where is everyone? No discussion during the world cup?

This win was special because:
a) best game of the RWC so far this year;
b) everybody was all over Canada for off-form wins over USA.Those wins over USA (esp 27-7 in game 2) look pretty good right about now.
Which forwards will be unable to go on Sunday? IMO, go for broke and use everybody who is fit and ready.

Not everyone is in NZ! What a game. Easily the best one of the competition so far!

I'm just rapt. What a performance. We beat Tonga and Jonothan Kaplan. The crowd was great and it sounded like there was very strong Canadian support as well. I have to say I love the Kiwi commentators enthusiasm even when the skills on offer don't equal an All Black/Wallaby contest. Last world cup, listening to those pompous UK commentators was enough to make you puke. DTH is all class, Carp's, Kleeb's and Sinclair were fantastic. Cudmore 23 tackles!!!! Damn I wish I had him in my fantasy pool. Munro, Pritchard and Fairhurst were great as well. I'm sure when I view it a 2nd time I can be a little more objective and critique things and point out errors that need correction but for today and maybe tomorrow I'm just a pretty proud Canadian rugby fan.
Well done boys

Quote of the year!!!Honestly, people rate him one of the best in the world but good God. There must have been three Tongan not strait line out throws in the first half and several forward passes that went unnoticed. I damaged my foot and coffee table when I kicked it!! Who cares though :) we won!!!

Any fans attend the post game festivities at the Killer Prawn Pub (any photos of your fun would be great to get and can post on the website)

I would have ordered a killer pizza after watching a Killer of a match!!

i was impressed with the scrum....after watching tonga match up theirs pretty well against the all blacks i was concerned they would get pushed around the park, but they held their own better than i've seen against good opposition in a long time.
seems as though they've spent the last month doing line out drills as well.
i really hope that another good performance or two lands a few more of our boys contracts abroad from the exposure.
any word on o'toole' s injury?

After watching that game I think they could rumble the Frenchies. When the French are hot they are world beaters, get them a bit frustrated and they are fairly dire.
Does this mean everyone is going to leave the coach alone?Posted 8 months ago # -
Woo hoo! What a game!!
We were there with our 2 teenage daughters, who were ho-hum before things got going and were screaming and jumping and waving the flag not long after.
There definteily was a sea of Tongan fans but even the smaller group of Canadian fans could be heard when we got going 'Go Canada Go!'. Should have had a cowbell...
We expected Tonga to come out in overdrive in the second half so weren't surprised but it did make the heart skip a beat when they took the lead. Didn't get to the Killer Prawn after as the girls had school this morning and we had a 4.5 hr drive back.
Cannot wait for Sunday in Napier! Would be delighted to catch up with anyone else going to any of the remaining pool matches.
And, got to tell you, didn't think our match would have attracted the streaker crowd but there ya go.

TSN is saying there were 138,000 viewers for the live version of the Canada Tonga game. Definately shows that there is great appetite for rugby on TV in Canada. Very impresive numbers considering the game was in the middle of the night for most of the country.

An interesting note when Canda's new rating comes out next monday morning it will be 73.74 and assuming Japan don't knock off the All Blacks tonight that will vault us into 12th position knocking hard on the door of Italy. Pretty heady stuff, I know. I realize this probably doesn't really reflect our position in world rugby completely accurately but a win against Japan by 15 or less, assuming Wales beats Samoa, and I calculate a rating of 75.38 were in 10th position. Almost mind numbing LOL!!
I know statistics are for losers :) but it is fun to play with the numbers.

Rusty, if you really want to dream in technicolour, if by some miracle Canada were to beat France on Sunday, that would put them on 77.74, which would vault them ahead of the Pumas! Heady stuff indeed.

If France is dire when they're frustrated, how do you describe Canada?
Canada v Ireland-0%
France v Ireland-60.9%
Canada v Argentina-33.3%
France v Argentina-73.8%Posted 8 months ago # -
