Let's have a little poll.
You have some money to burn and want to give it to help Canadian rugby,
Who do you give your money to and why?I am going Foundation because they have specific funds for specific programs, RC has seemingly asked the giver to trust it will go where it should and I don't trust it will.

That is a trick question - I will go with none f the above. Give it directly to Ryan Smith, so that he stops crying like a little baby.

I would support the foundation. A few years ago Mr Fix and Mr Fairhurst set up a plan for junior rugby and asked for contributions. I was glad to contribute as I knew the money was going to junior rugby.
This also competes with many club programs where they are looking for memberships at different levels to fund their growth. I know that the Markham Irish have a program like this as do the Edmonton Leprechaun Tiger RFC . There is only one pot and I think that RC should be selling outside the established base.

Frank good thing we live in Canada, where even idiots are entitled to there opinion. I would definitely go for the CRF. If I win $50 million on Friday a million straight to the foundation.

Harry, you cheap b@st@rd, you win 50M and the most you give RC is 1M. Put your money where your mouth is.

Harry You are still doing the "if" thing. What I want to
know is what people do. Not what they say they will
do.I will give none of my money to the pack of underachievers
that are running Rugby Canada. Show me some positive results before I give again.
FYI The Canada Foundation is NOW much too close to Rugby
Canada. M R-J, who runs the foundation, is a former
fund raiser for SLS (read David Robertson RC Director)

Keep your $$$$ in your pocket!!Knower, What do you mean by 'NOW'. The gentleman in question has not changed what his former job is, he's always been a former fund raiser for SLS.
Do you dispute that they do a great job of raising money for all facets of Canadian rugby? The money raised from what I understand and have experienced is utilised in a very focused fashion. On one hand you ask for positive results and then tell people to avoid a foundation that shows very positive results. You can't have it both ways.

Knower - would love to know what you are doing to help rugby in Canada? Obviously not contributing anything financially. SO what is it? Coaching, managing? Or is it just whining?

When the Canadian Rugby Foundation was formed, by George
Jones and others, it was meant to be an alternative to the
Canadian Rugby Union. Many people wanted to support rugby
(me included) but did not trust the CRU Board. The CRF was
suppose to be separate from Rugby Canada something like
Church and State. Things have changed and NOW the Two are
joined at the hip.Hey titan I wrote that I don't give anything to RC except
part of my club dues.
One thing I do is call people on their BS. Like when you
wrote that the Yankees (SLS) have pulled out of the BCSSRU
Championship and were going to play boycotting schools
Carson G and Earl M. Still waiting for those dates.!!Posted 1 year ago # -

Knower - see other forum for HS rugby talk.
Wearing your aluminum hat I can see you must be terrified at the prospect of the head of the CRF having past associations with the Evil Empire of SLS. Because we all know they are just out to destroy all of rugby in Canada. That's why they let the national team train there for free for years....when they could have been training at well...um..
I recently donated money to the CRF and was informed of the specific location it was going to. Unless they lied to me and sent it straight to RC I was very satisfied with the recipient. I'm beginning to understand your character a lot now. I'm sure you're the same type of person who goes on the BC rugby news site and votes that 'they're not interested in rugby summer camps.' Again - another evil enterprise by those rich guys up in Shawnigan.

Pat Aldous Rugby Canada Board also Canadian Rugby
Foundation. They are no longer separate! The Foundation
is just a fund raiser for Rugby Canada.
Just KNOW that when you give your money
to either,it ends up in the same place.Posted 1 year ago # -
You will never see these two guys together at the same time or the same place. Why you ask?
MRJ is NT or NT is MRJ[center]

Knower....and 2 Board Members are/were members of your club. What hip are they joined to? I guess they are joined at "both hips"....yours and theirs.
Over the past few years U-20 players from your club benefit greatly from the work the Foundation does through MRJ...Not sure why you are complaining.
BTW...the U-20 funding only started after MRJ took over. Before that, the boys had to pay their own way. This is all new money going into rugby.
Keep up the good work MRJ!

Please be advised that 'knower' is a distinctly different character than 'the knower'. The latter has not posted in some time, frustrated by the incredibly silly comments from a fellow identifying himself as Harry Craig.

They are all in bed together, the foundation, Rugby Canada, the Board!!!! The issue from the public is trust, can u trust that the foundation is really separate from RC (they should be) Can you trust anything spun by RC??? I think not, and the Board are just a bunch of nobodies just wanting to wear blazers and drink free beer, and not make any real hard decisions, except how much they have to donate to bail out RC marketing director, and fundraiser!!!

If you were sponsoring RC (Kooga) would you be mad if they post an article with one of the national team players in a Barbarian jersey??? Does RC not have any photos of players in the new ugly Kooga jerseys? RC your press guy should be fired!!!!! Yes the article is copy pasted from the IRB site, but the photo is from RC. It's a good promotion for Barbarian though! IDIOTS

I can confirm that the silly guy identifying himeself as me is in fact me. I know that. If I were the only silly one on here I would quit posting.

The problem with both funds is they are scurrying around trying to tie up grassroots support without upsetting the mothership of RC. RC is like an Aliens trilogy with that Sigourney Weaver wench running the show in a ship lost in space with no safe harbour. RC is a cancerous sunspot we all want removed. The funds try to make up for their incompetence. The pyramid is upside down with all the resources servicing the top tiers and volunteers and athletes paying to make up the difference. Eventually the upside down triangle will teeter in the wind. I`m thinking October 2011. We will beat the Incans to global chaos.

I think many things in RC is changing for the better these days. They are marketing better product and services. They are using the social media. Better reporting on players outside of Canada.
Issues is how they are spending the money and financials are still weak. Firing and hiring based on what? They act like they do not have to provide clarity in their actions or be accountable.
Still no clearity in the process or a game plan to develop the sport in Canada.
