    What's the deal with the jerseys tha Canada wore yesterday - they looked very diferent from anything that we have worn in the last several years.

    Here is what the official RWC2011 jersey is supposed to look like:

    Why would they change jerseys for just one or two games?

    Actually Canada has used the classic red shirt + white shorts combo on and off for several years.

    Here they are wearing them in 2009 vs. the United States in a RWC qualifier:

    I would assume they decided to wear these jerseys on Saturday because they are like heritage jerseys and the history associated with them as well as the strong patriotic colours of red and white were appropriate for a match versus our greatest rival.

    Plus they are beautiful. I wish we wore them every game.

    You young whipper-snapers make us sound so old when we have to come out from the past to inform you that those are our traditional international colours. And did they not look grand. And, we won. Not spectacularly but none the less a good win at a crucial time.

    World Cup has rules about sponsors on shirts so you take the money when you can and do as IRB says at World Cup.

    I don't have an issue with the jerseys, I was just wondering why they wouldn't be wearing their latest jersey. I quite like these as well as I am a traditionalist and prefer the classic rugby jersey with a white collar.

    I also want to make sure that I buy the right jersey to wear in Napier and Wellington when I support the team vs the Japanese and ABs in 6-7 weeks.

    I bought both the Home and Alt jersey for the RWC. I would like to know if there is a way of finding out which jersey Canada will put on for each of the games... usually left to game day isn't it?

    The jerseys are awesome. Nice weight, feel and they are tough. I will wear mine proudly!

    May be a cost issue associated with using the new jersey. They would likely have a sponsor take care of that though, but if they wore the new jersey there would be no RWC2011 on the front. Would have been nice to launch the thing before the RWC though.

    Anything is OK as long as they don't wear those ridiculous red shorts depicted in the "We Stand on Guard for Thee" poster. Has Canada EVER worn red shorts? Whose idea was that?

    vintage, best thing rugby canada has ever done with the jersey. I hear it was sluggo's idea back at the last world cup but brown and company stopped it because konno couldn't produce it or make the maple leaf .... losers

    Actually it was Williams who got RC to finally do something right and got the throw back jerseys, Sluggo was a big supporter though! Our new black red and white are horrible, why not go to something simple and Canadian???? Last time i checked our flag was still red and white!!!!

    two peas in a pod, a players captain and a players coach, red and white. That is why brown didn't want them around.
