Any thoughts on the squad? And will it be much different than the squad to face the Yanks in the World Cup warm up matches?

I'm not sure on what the final squad for the CC looks like but I'd like to see Ryan Hamilton get some time at hook and Seb Pearson get some time in the backrow.

On a side note, in an article on the Rugby Canada website concerning the upcoming playing schedule for the national teams the Churchill Cup was described as "...the ninth and final Churchill Cup." Is this it for the CC?

I read the article and didn't notice that line until you pointed it out. I see nothing on RFU site about it's demise. Anyone out ther know more about this?

Good leadership at the top. Leave to the legion of supporters to find out the truth!

I emailed Rugby Canada for confirmation, this is indeed supposed to be the end of the Churchill Cup.

How do you fix that from the bottom?

You make rugby so popular in Canada that there is a demand for it. The RFU runs it's and if they pull the plug what can we do, not much. This is bad for Canadian rugby and the US as well. How would you suggest fixing it from the top. The top can't do anything if there isn't a broad base to support it. As I have said before there are no easy fixes. Hard work by all is required if we want to improve our rugby.

Not telling the Canadian rugby fans about the Churchill cup folding. And trying to slide the info into another press release is the exact stuff that needs to be fixed. How can they approach anybody who wants to help either finiancially or by volunteering when this kind of deliberate cover up is happening. Be honest,

Rugbyfan you do have a point, but Canada has a better organization than some countries that could run up a decent score against us now. At least we do not have a situation like that in Fiji, yet Fiji still has Canada's number on the field. I do agree the transparency of the Canadian organization is poor at best but these are easier fixes. Firing a few people and re-hiring is something that can be done with relative ease. But with a solid organization in place there needs to be a solid group to lead. Maybe the answer is a symbiotic approach, but the foundation HAS to be the primary focus.

I am sure it is only a matter of days that RC leadership unveils what the competitions are that our National team will be playing in post WC. I cannot imagine there is no planning beyond this WC, otherwise that would most likely mean this is our last one for a long time.

C'mon folks have faith this is our National Program and governing body of course there is a plan, must just be Top Secret at this point.

I had read about this being the final Churchill Cup in the Nigel Melville blog. In the blog it said in the US the Churchill Cup would be replaced by test matches, one each year would be a top country. I'd guess the same would apply to Canada.

    OnRugby,

Yes, I think the Yanks released this info some time ago. It was on the Gainline site a couple of months back.

A 6 Nations C team for a mini-tour in June and a game a year against the Eagles, I am guessing. Won't that be fun!
