For the record Caps did not field a U19 team this fall.
Do not know why as they have sole access to top rugby
schools. Ask Craig Slay, he spins a good yarn.DON'T COUNT CAPS OUT!! They have asked the BCRU to check
Burnaby game sheets for too many import players.
My call (assuming BCRU has the balls) is that CAPS will
be IN and Burnaby will be on a bus to Seattle to play
Div 2 rugby. Cheaters should not prosper!!BCRU has NO Balls!! Cheaters R in. Too Bad,So Sad for Caps.
They will on the bus to Seattle and Kamloops. Burnaby will
be fined and will have to post a "We will not cheat bond"
in order to play with the Big Boys.Posted 1 year ago # -

Maybe the coach of the Caps should start a boycott like he did with his highschool team!

Knower maybe right, but the BC Competition Committee
is meeting tonight to deal with the Burnaby issue.
The Caps coach, Tom Larish, is on tour with CG in
Australia. He is one of BC's top young coaches and
may one day coach our National Team. He is a natural
leader who speaks his mind regardless of the outcome.Posted 1 year ago # -

Funny how the story here develops. My understanding is that all of the paperwork was looked at by the BCRU and everything was ok.
Desperation breeds strange bedfellows indeed...
Oh and Knower should change his handle to Guesser, or perhaps Don'tKnower.

There are none just ask cowichan. They won the BC prems one year and than were relegated the next than had there top players poached away by JBAA and OAK BAYFan You must be old if you remember Cowichan winning
the BC Club Championship. The Piggies fall from being a
rugby power was more to do with No Work in the Valley.
Young players do not stay in Duncan if they can't find
work. They headed to Victoria for jobs and nightlife.
They still wanted to play rugby so they joined Victoria
clubs rather than an hours travel over the Hat to
train and play(some did, most didn't). Like they say
"Once you see the Bright Lights you do not go
back to Duncan." No Poaching occurred !Posted 1 year ago # -

I will clue U in as soon as I KNOW!!The BCRU CC met and looked at the evidence. Burnaby was
sent a letter asking them to Admit or Deny the charges.
Burnaby denied any wrong doing re # of imports. BC will
now conduct a more complete investigation and if Burnaby
is found guilty they will receive harsh sanction that
may include a ban from the BC Premier league. Both Bayside
and Capilanos filed formal complaints.
Bottom Line BCRU needed more time to complete a fair
and complete investigation. So Goods News Burnaby is in with the Big Dogs!
Bad News They must compete without loading their
team with Fijians.
Caps get on a bus to Seattle.Posted 1 year ago # -
Part of piece written by Burnaby contributor to BCRugby News;
"Burnaby's substitutes too came on strong, highlighted by the return of Gareth Marsden who went three of four for conversions and Edvin Sabic who asserted his physical presence."
These two players coming onto the field were apparently the 4th and 5th imports to play in that game.
Burnaby has reported that this was a case of "mistaken identity" in the article and these fellas did not play in that game.
Apparently the game tape that would prove this one way or another has disappeared or didn't happen.

Well hopefully we won't have to read Craig Slay's writeups anymore about how local and youthful the Caps program is!

Like with most of your comments YOU ARE WRONG!
Tried to start a thread with details but it was taken
down by Winger and his fellow moderators. Too Hot?
All comments were true. Can't I use the word CHEATERS?Hey Winger can I say that Burnaby has been fined $1,500.
and placed on probation by the BCRU.
Burnaby admitted to breaking competition rules.Posted 1 year ago # -
Knower,
You come across as an angry individual. Stick to the facts, more important...keep the tone civil, and no problems.

Winger I am upset about a few things happening
with rugby in Canada at the moment. Is that
a bad thing? This blog is only one way to
get the facts out. I do agree that we should
be civil in our postings. I thought I was?
You have the POWER in this forum and can always
take posts down.
Maybe I should post only if I agree with you?Posted 1 year ago # -
Nah...That would be boring...

I read it as you cheated and got caught and then tried to fudge the numbers.
Posted 1 year ago # -
rugbyfan07 you should improve your reading skills. It seems that Burnaby are idiots who can't even fill in a game sheet but probably not cheaters, you'd have to be a little clever to get away with cheating and that they are not. I really think that BCRU and probably other provincial unions as well should make sure all game sheets are checked or we are going to have a huge liability claim coming through when someone gets hurt in a game with an unregistered player involved. Alll clubs need to clean up their act and get things right as well. It's not like the old days, there are lawyers out there just waiting to litigate so we have to be squeaky clean. that is just how it is nowadays, unfortunately.
