High Performance/National Team prospect tracking

One of the most frustrating things about a supposed up and coming sport like rugby and more particularly 7's rugby, is that there is very little information available anywhere about players. Not only player's that have already achieved success but also those that are striving to achieve success.
Rugby Canada website provides some information and profiles on national team players but that's where it essentially stops.
Rugby Ontario despite have the High Performance academy provides no player roster info, photos or profiles from current or past teams. There were some fantastic players coming out of the U17 and U18 teams over the last couple of years. Where are they now? Keep in mind the provincial teams are the feeders to our National program. A little recognition of these athletes may inspire them to stick and excel within the program or to help attract more talent.
The BC Rugby site is a little better updated but still suffers from lack of player recognition and information.Let's look at CIS or OUA. While some schools like Mac are not bad, I happened to check out Western Mustangs website (Ontario's best 7's team and 2nd in 15's to Mac in 2010) and they do not even have a 2010 roster posted from last season. I can get 2009's but not the current season. Bet those boys feel pretty important next to their football counterparts! There is no excuse at the University level for not have a current roster with player profiles, postitions, height, weight, photo, etc.
There needs to be a much more intricate player tracking system if Canada is really going to compete on the World stage in years to come. We do not have the grass roots feeders like England so better tracking of prospective players will certainly help. I can imagine that if someone asked who the top 100 U20 players are in Canada, the people who should be in the know would only come up with 40 or 50 and there would be many many forgotten or missed. Many more whose fire has been extinguished for lack of interest or encouragement from the 'right' people.

It is tough to keep track of the players if you do not come to practice. How do you expect the coaches to keep track of a long list?
