  4. Rwc 2011 phase 2 of ticketing closes 5pm Friday October 8

Remember, it’s the last chance for fans to enter the ballot for tickets to the semi-final and Final.

While sales for the two matches in Napier have been strong you should be able to get some tickets – but you need to act now.

  6. RNZ2011 has released the latest data surrounding ticket sales for RWC2011 and so far things are progressing well.

Some things to note when looking at the Hawkes Bay Figures:

    1. These figures are public ticket sales and don’t take into account the significant number of tickets currently being held by RWCL for its Commercial Programme.

    2. McLean Park is the smallest of the venues being used but is one of the heaviest subscribed at 87.5%. Only Auckland and Waikato are the same or better.

    3. Overall visitor numbers are now indicating the higher 85000 visitor count as predicted by Ministry of Economic Development back in March. Also numbers of visitors in the country early in the Tournament appears higher than expected – this is good for our games here in HB.

    4. Stronger than predicted pool match support by French Fans – again good for their game here in HB.

Bring it on in September next year!

    Peter,

Thanks for the info. I am going to repost some of this on my blog. I don't know how we Canadians are going to be louder than the French, but were sure going to try!!!

My pleasure - I do think that Canada will be the surrogate favourite for the locals as the team is in Napier for 15 days - so you should get some local help to be louder than the French.

  12. Last Friday it was great to meet Brent Johnston the manager for the Canadian Team at RWC 2011 during his visit to the region to look at all the facilities and venues that the team will use while here.

We had the chance to talk a lot about the ways this team can stay in touch with the local community during its 15 day stay in Hawke’s Bay.

It really does appear that the entire team is looking forward their time in this region, and hope to get to know the locals as much as they can – and we intend to be great hosts and show them a great time. There are many fun activities for them to choose from.

I guess that Canada will be the ‘second favourite team’ for most locals during the two matches to be played here.

  14. So what happens next with RWC2011 Finals Tickets Ballots?

Obviously not everyone who was successful in the ballot will want to buy what will be expensive tickets – so what happens to those tickets.

If, after the expiry of that March 4 deadline, there are still tickets unsold, RNZ 2011 will make further ticket offers to those initially unsuccessful ballot entrants. Any such offers would be made in order of the priority created by the initial randomisation process.

So you might still get lucky!

  16. Tribal dancers are to lift Canadians at Rugby World Cup
Good to see the Takitimu Festival gaining some real momentum.

It is part of the Havingaball Festival in Hawke’s Bay during RWC 2011 and will be a landmark event for the region.

Thanks Peter (Havingaball2011) for all the great information. I have been working with some Kiwi rugby clubs publicizing games for Canadians while in New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup. So far I have information on 3 events inviting Canadian rugby supporters to participate in games with local NZ clubs.

The first game is in Whangarei on September 13th, the day before the Canada - Tonga game. This is suppose to be a 15s style game and it may end up being an old boys game unless there are enough young lads to play.

The 2nd game will be in Napier and this is to be an old boys game/tournament and will have Japan supporters playing in the tournament as well as the local NZ clubs.
This tournament is scheduled for Sunday the 25th of September, 2 days prior to the Canada-Japan game.

The latest tournament/event is scheduled for October 13th and 14th in Hawke's Bay, where there will be a Global Sevens Tournament for rugby supporters from around the world including us Canadians.

I am trying to get Canadian supporters to announce themselves with their interest in playing in these tournaments in NZ. If you want to introduce yourself and would enjoy playing with hodge podge of Canadian players, then head to my page dedicated to making these games happen.

    Cheers!

Thanks again and look forward to hearing from all Canadians heading to NZ this fall.

    Cheers.
