Saw last night that Spike Tv is playing a "Natinal Rugby League" game tonight at 11pm. Teams to be announced. I am assuming this will be American club rugby at some level but know nothing about it. Does anyone here? Kudos to them for getting on Spike.

Australian League games, not union or American at all.

I think its awesome. Union is a little confusing for the average viewer and with league you get to see so much ball in hand its a nice change for sure.

Hey,
Yeah, I was watching it for a while last night and it seemed a little different/confusing. I'd consider myself an average viewer at best so the above comment definitely applies in my case!
Is this going to be a regular thing on Spike? If so, then that would be very cool!T-Max

I can imagine the proper Union fans and people at USA Rugby are a bit annoyed by it.
When I was in Aussie last year, there was a news story about League teams doing a tour of the US (Rabbitohs, I think). I always thought that it was a code more transferrable to football players, but that can't be good for the growth of Union!
Here's what wiki had to say:
"In January 2008, Australian club South Sydney Rabbitohs (owned By Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes à Court) played a trial game against 2007 European Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos. The game was held in Jacksonville, Florida. Leeds got off to a 26-0 lead at half-time and looked to have it sewn up. In the second half South Sydney scored 24 unanswered points and nearly stage a remarkable comeback. End score Leeds 26 - 24 South Sydney.
The game attracted a 12,500 crowd, thanks to Russell Crowe spreading publicity on several American TV shows. The crowd included celebrities such as Dennis Rodman, Layne Beachley, American Chopper and more.
2009 saw the announcement of National Rugby League USA professional rugby league competition. Its inaugural year will be 2010 and it will feature 8 teams from 8 separate cities. The jump up to professional is a major development in Rugby League so far they have announced 6 teams from Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Denver, Jacksonville and Los Angeles."

Bandito - get Canadian Rugby to entice some of the top nations like AB's, Boks and Aussie to stop over in Canada on their end of year European tours - for too long we have neglected Canada/USA in playing test rugby. Its crazy that an Australian only game AFL is broadcast on TV whilst Rugby a game thats played in many countries is not. I'm an All Black supporter living in Australia surrounded by the League game but to be honest its only played in 2 states New South Wales and Queensland (NRL)and while its popular here, its certainly does not have worldwide appeal in any great numbers. Anyway best of luck to Canadian/USA rugby and may our teams meet on the rugby fields more often and have you challenged by the HAKA !!!! Cheers

If anyone is interested I found that http://www.justintv/
has free live feed rugby (they commence broadcasting live when play starts otherwise its a blank screen until then)I got this info(link) from a South African rugby site Keo.co.za where I can tell you that they don't follow any rules or none that I can understand, they are very passionate indeed about their rugby. I managed to see all of the British Lions vs Bok tests on my laptop using this method - very useful.Posted 11 months ago # -
Added to that, click on the 'rugby this week' sticky post here: http://www.myp2pforum.eu/rugby/ and you'll get all sorts of available links for live streaming matches.
There's also a torrent site called acrossthetasman which has pretty much everything you could want, but you have to be invited by a member and have to maintain 'good standing' by maintaining a 1:1 download/upload ratio.
... despite my internet rugby viewing at the weekend, I'd rather be able to tune into TSN, Sportsnet, or (if only!) my beloved CBC to see the Rugby game!
