Alright lets get this straight. So the men go on tour they get 500 BONES a week, then if they win they get a BONE -"US" thats right lady's they win they get money. Now when all you girl's are having camp's,plus tours and having to pay for them look where your money's going.Has rugby canada gone professional with senior mens having contracts for the guy's with the win BONE-"US".Maybe thats why JL had such a gone show after the world cup.

Let me get this correct. HockeyDad, are you saying that the men get an extra $500.00 per victory on top of their weekly honorarium of $500.00? Is this why with the Ryan Smith restructure plan, the men have scheduled matches against the likes of Spain, Portugal, Singapore?

Let me get this correct. The women pay for all their trips and yet they are fully funded by OTP. Something is not right there.

So, it must be true that the women’s contributions are being used to pay for the men’s BONE-US.

Suggestion, stop throwing good money (subsidizes $$ from the women) into bad investments (the men’s program).

It's justified as the men's game can take in gate receipts. There is one test in Canada this season and tickets are $50 or more.

Even if they are not as competetive as the women's program, the senior men's team can generate revenue. Very few will pay to see women play any sport.

I will not pay 50 bucks to go to an RC game or event. The value is not there.

I would! I forget what I paid to see Canada and Ireland play in Vancouver a couple of years ago but the day was magic. Beers, sun, big crowd and some fine fine rugby by some of the best players in the world. Money well spent!

Absolutely agree Newbie. I brought a couple of nonrugby friends and they brought their kids. The kids are now playing mini's at the local club and one of the Dads has joined the 40+ team. It was a spectacular day and great value for entertainment. The russia test was a litte rougher but that is easy to understand given the weather, the last minute change in venue due the weather and the distance from the pitch when sitting in the stands at Swangard. I was just gutted when RC announced that the only domestic test this year would be at BMO. Hopefully the test will be broadcast somehow.

It is a shame if it is true that the men are raping us of our funds.

Give me a break... $500 x 22 = $11000 and if they win, another $11000.... There is still the accommodation for all the players, travel, practice fields, rental of BMO place, jerseys, coach's salary and everything else.... and the men don't pay a CENT!!! You still think it's justified?
    What a joke....

Anyone who thinks paying a national team player $500 extra,
if they win, will make him player harder IS A FOOL!!

You play to WIN for yourself, your teammates and your
    country.

Can some one tell where they got the figure of $500 for a week for the senior men and a $500 win bonus. I'm not disputing it, just wondering if it is down in writing somewhere or was it just made up. Hockey dad says they get 500 bones a week so I guess that is $500. He then says the get a BONE US if they win but he does not include an amount. Frank then claims the bonus for winning is $500 dollars a game, which a good bet on the amount but is it accurate. Is it public knowledge that these amounts are being paid out or is just rumour or does someone have inside information that RC didn't want to get out. Even if they get no money they are doing better than the women who have to pay large sums to play but I prefer to have the facts, if they are available, instead of rumours.

It's true, i played in November and we are givin $500/week, plus a $500 bonus if we win, a $1000 bonus if we beat a team ranked higher than us. Sevens players also get $250/week

RC might as well promise them $10,000 if they could beat a team ranked above them. We all know that ain't happening sometime soon.

Harry there you have it is confirmed. If you don't accept shift then why not call GB?

The women have been truly B()NED.

Anybody can come on here and claim to be anyone they want to be. Not saying I don't believe it but an anonymous post doesn't prove anything. I could claim to be a referee but many would disagree with that statement.

Shift, I never said I didn't believe you or doubt that you area national team player. All I said was that anyone could claim to be whoever they want to be on this forum and we can't tell if it is true or not. I don't have a big opinion on whether or not the payment is justified, I see some good points and some bad. What I did say was I have not read that information on the Rugby Canada site and if it is true why is it not public knowledge. Good luck to you and I hope to see you in the World Cup, although I guess I won't know if I do or no unless you introduce yourself to me one day. Go Canada Go.

Good to see why rc restructured so they can have money to pay players when they beat teams they should. KC speech before those games must go something like this… come on guys win one for Robert Borden!!!
