"We missed a few key scrums and key lineouts and that really made a difference. We couldn't really build anything and then France snuck in a couple of late tries. . ."
REALLY? Was it all down to the pack of forwards? I did not see that! I saw a pack that worked & worked and a set of backs who were playing the wrong game, fastest players did not touch the ball, who's decision is that? I watched the game live, JL talk about throw your forwards under the bus, you have a great squad, your decisions need to be looked at! Bash up with the centre's demand the forwards run at other forwards you kill the game, Russell Mervin Flo Jaques Kish Gibbs are all runners let them loose, Moyse Waters Phillips Patser let them run
All this talk about the BC scrum half & alberta scrum half makes me sick, they are both good, both play different games for this one (France) the Alberta player would have been a better choice, she lit up the CanAm's and she lit up the 5 mins she was on against France

if it's any consolation at least we get to play teams that we would never get a chance to normally ie: Scotland again,and hopefully Ireland games that people say we need more of.I don't think there's a bad thing to say except that they got beat.The bounces didn't go our way,3 players going down on one phase of play certainly doesn't help either.Also 4-1 in 5th place is not so bad.

No matter how you slice it, finishing fourth is always better then finishing fifth. That's asking would you rather win the gold or the silver? DUH

Frank I absolutely agree. The only way this result can be interpreted (if 5th place is the final result...it could be lower) is as a step backward. Hopefully RC will conduct a proper, open and transparent, post world cup review of the program (not holding my breath) to determine the best way to move forward.
Also, the NSWT needs to be playing NZ, England, France and Australia to improve. Playing and beating Scotland and Ireland does not provide the necessary competition to move into the top three (or four) which should be the goal.

timi1234, don't be counting your 4 and 1 chickens before they hatch. For all you know they might finish 2 and 3 and be going home with their tail between their legs.
At last WC, Canada was one play away from the final. Maybe not liking each other made them meaner.

Frank,
While I'm sure you enjoy yanking chains, remember it was a 62 point display by Australia that got them to the the semis and us playing for 5th place.
In Edmonton we got the better draw, this time Australia did. But for that draw we would be the ones looking to finish on the podium. We didn't play well against France, and another team determined our destiny. No differently than we did at the last World Cup.
This edition of the NSWT is miles better in depth, skill and commitment to each other. That we aren't playing for a podium spot sucks, but that's life.
I believe we will pick ourselves up, because I believe in the character of the team and the people in and around it.
I believe we will finish with fours wins, and we will keep building.
Yes I'm passionate about this team because I know a few of them personally, coaches and players alike.
Go Canada!

I'm reluctantly agreeing with winger here (I'm always reluctant to give him credit for being right). The team is the best prepared and fittest but the other teams have improved as well. It was a tough draw for us, no doubt but you have to overcome obatacles to do well. I can take nothing away form this group, I know they gave their all, but then so did France and Australia. I really hope they do well from here on in and get the 5th place but I will be very proud of them wherever they finish. Remember they are amatateurs paying their own way, thank you girls and don't listen to the naysayers, all real Canadian supporters are behind you. I have recently met both John Long and Kris de Scossa and they have the best interest of Canadaina rugby at heart, no matter where they come from originally and they seem to know Canadian rugby pretty well. Thanks to all the players and staff for your hard work over the past years and good luck in your next two games. I know you must be disssapointed not to be in the real semis but do us proud and bing home 5th spot.

Bollocks to that. IT wasn't just the Australia v South Africa result it was all three of our games and three for australia. I know if you asked the coaches if they liked their draw BEFORE the tournament they would have smiled as it was the best pool. Had we scored more in other games or kept it closer against France or scored 4 tries against France we would have moved on.
Quit protecting Rugby Canada and all in it blindly!
Performances at World cups are up for discussion and you supporting the worst finish at a World Cup smells.
Of course this team is the fittest and most skilled, they should be, the women's game has grown here but not so sure they were the best prepared team. A prepared team would have been calm, precise and performed better in their pool.

Story of the rwcwomens.com live coverage
England, New-Z, England -> 3 games
Wales, S-Africa -> 2 games
Ireland, Scotland, USA, France, Kazakhstan -> 1 games
Canada, Sweden -> 0 Games
...Isn't a WORLD cup?Story of those games full match replay
New-Z, Australia -> 3 games
South Africa, Wales, England -> 2 games
Scotland, France, Ireland, USA -> 1 games
Canada, Kazakhstan, Sweden -> 0 gamesFor some reasons, is there some resentment or a grudge against Canada in the world of rugby?

Rugbynessly speaking, I will feel like an orphan for the next 4 years.
You're so right Monsieur Craig, there's got to be a way to seed the love for this team in the heart of more Canadian sportmen and sportwomen. Rugby need a public, people in "les gradins"
I did e-mail to many network and paper just so they would mention the event, nil....
This is my first rugby world cup to follow, hope the men's one raise the same enthusiasm. But those girls, they're so lovable.
And, may I? The french factor, no resentment here. I won't explain more, those who have the sensibility to understand will...

Winger14, I agree with you!
Although I am not sure Australia got the better draw. SA did quite well prior to their Oz match, it's like they let them win! And on paper, Scotland and Sweden are pretty weak. And France was beatable, our team didn't perform.
Agents, I want to specify, personally, I am not blindly supporting Rugby Canada but rather rugby in Canada.
SnailSprinter, I also wonder about the coverage for North American rugby, that was ridiculous! Another reason why I wish the team had performed, they should have showed them why Canada needs more exposure!
Scarface, I agree, the NSWT needs to be playing the big teams to improve but there isn't enough money put into the program to allow the team to go to the Southern Hemisphere and the girls only have so much money they can contribute! (Re. NZ tour cancelled last April)

Lock8...Thank You!
Agent Man
The best prep would have involved more games against the top teams (England, NZ, France) as well as Wales, Ireland, Scotland etc...for that to happen they need financial support.
As Lock8 said, I don't blindly support Rugby Canada, I do however support rugby in Canada, and in this case I firmly believe that the team and coaching staff is right. Tearing down the structure is not the answer, nor is blindly throwing money around.
We need to target funding to the NSWT so that they have the resources to experience pressure games more often and turn those results around. Playing the USA, and the Nations Cup helps of course, but in of itself doesn't help enough.
There is more talent in the background waiting for their turn to step up. There are players in the team now who can further use the experience to raise their game even further. There are the vets who desparately want to finish on as high a note as possible.
I've said my bit, you may now have the last word if you wish...

Step number 1: OTP needs to take the seven's program away from RC if they want an opportunity to sit top three in 2016. It is criminal that RC have not announced a coach or even had a practice since the 2009 WC. When RC so-called restructured did they forget about the women's program?
Every four years we say we need funding. IF GB is still in charge you will see history repeat itself. He will be going to the rugby community for his annual handout. He is good at this cause that is how he collects his welfare cheques from the irb
show me the pathway to the NSWT What has happened to the seven's program. Is there an U23 program. Is there a residential program? No they do not exist
I am not as blind but I still can't see the pathway or any structure.
