Youth / Junior National Championships 2009

    Forgive the intrusion into this site's heavy subject matter of forum but I seem to have lost touch with what is going on in the "future" of our game.

    There is a total absence of feedback following the National Festival, the last u18 participation in the Canada Summer Games and finally but far being from least the new u14 challenge that took place in July between B.C., Alberta and Ontario.

    Mind you it is not fair to pick on this site alone when neither Rugby Canada nor Rugby Ontario have anything meaningful posted relating to youth / junior rugby. Then, the National Festival website does not seem to be complete either, a total abscence as to the final standings in any of the categories.

    Can any of my better informed posters throw some light on all or any of these three separate but equally important events.

    BC won the boys U16, ON won Girls U17 and U19.

    In all three it was a BC v ON Final.

    That's about all I know. I did get a chance to catch a few of the games on Ustream. Not a bad idea, too bad about the weather though.

    By contrast I watched the archived versions of the Women's nations cup last night. It looked a lot better without the frame delay issues you get with the live feed.

    Actually the Under 17 Girls final was Ontario over Alberta with BC beating Quebec for the bronze.
